Lagavulin Whisky
We love Lagavulin here at the Wright Wine Company. Managing Director, Julian, has been a visitor to Islay since he was a little lad and has graced the doors of Lagavulin for tastings on many occasions (after turning 18 of course).
Distilleries have dotted Lagavulin since the 18th century, but it was not until 1816 that farmer John Johnston established the first legal distillery. A year later, Archibald Campbell initiated a second operation. These pioneers were later unified under a Glasgow trader, and in 1887, Peter Mackie took the helm. Under Mackie’s visionary leadership, the distillery and the Lagavulin name ascended to be the quintessence of Islay malts
